If this is the consensus, I suggest that a convention be documented, and
sent to each new member of the list.  One that is commonly used is
prefixing the subject with the general topic, so:

[ADV] - advertisement.
[JOB] - HR/Contract related.
[ANNOUNCE] - general announcement.
[OT] - hopelessly Off-topic, but interesting to many.

This is a simple to recognize pattern, so that those of us who are
uninterested in certain threads can completely ignore them with filters.
