The point I am making is that such an analysis be done prior to any
translation or map, particularly in applications which have their origins
from very dissimilar sources, such as the healthcare industry.

and this is exactly the vision behind the ebXML Registry approach and
the use of UID and Bizcodes as the interoperability markers.

We are also starting the DRIve initiative within DISA to specifically make
X12 EDI element dictionaries available within an ebXML Registry
implementation.
