Mary Kay, et al. Saludos amigos. This time of year in Costa Rica is called the Green Season, which means it rains most every afternoon, thus providing an opportunity to pop in to the local Internet cafe to catch up on at least a little e-mail.
Mary Kay raises a valid question. If you check the ebXML initiative archive, you will see that I took part in the earlier in-person meetings of the Core Comp team and subscribed to the list during the entire 18 month period. In all the meetings that I attended during the ebXML development period, I talked at various points to members of all of the teams, including Core Comp, to get first-person reports of what went on. As a result, I felt comfortable about writing on core components, as well as messaging, registries, CPPs/CPAs, and other aspects of ebXML. The readers of the e-book and David Webber's and my new book, as well as my articles on ebXML in XML.Com and CMP TechWeb can judge the adequacy of this reporting. I chose Core Components as the subject of the e-book, because it seems to be the least understood, yet potentially most far-reaching aspect of ebXML. The idea of semantic interoperability, in my mind, is what separates ebXML from the rest of the e-business pack. Mary Kay and her team deserve loads of credit for taking on this task and for their accomplishments during the development period. I look forward to their completing the job. Now, time for another cup of this great Costa Rican coffee ... Alan Kotok Manuel Antonio, C.R.
