This is typically a WindowManager problem (which means that you may also 
have problems with dialog boxes). Java[tm] (not specially XXE) does not 
seem to like your WindowManager. The workaround is generally to use 
another WindowManager. There is not much we, XMLmind, can do.

May be your problem only happens when you quit XXE while its main window 
is maximized. In such case, try not to use the maximize button of the 
title bar of XXE main window.

Here are XMLmind, we use KDE's window manager and old mwm with SuSE 
Linux without any problem.
