The error message means: "I'm trying to download the DTD from www.oasis-open.org but I cannot connect to www.oasis-open.org because I cannot find its internet address".
This is the first time a user reports such error (if you are the person who is in contact with Kenneth Johansson). I can reproduce this behavior only when: [1] I disable my connection to the internet, [2] AND I rename "C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\catalog.xml" to "C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\catalog.xml.HIDE" Therefore, I suppose that: * you are not permanently connected to the internet, * you have something on your PC which ``hides'' "C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\catalog.xml" or which replaces it by something wrong. We need more info. in order to be able to help you. --------------------------------------------------- [1] Please confirm that you are not permanently connected to the internet. [2] Have you installed the the distribution containing the private Java[tm] runtime (xxe-std-28p1-setup.exe) or have you installed the other distribution (xxe-std-28p1-setup-nojvm.exe)? [3] Is this the first time you try to use XMLmind XML Editor? [4] Do you use other software related to XML? [5] Please, use Help|About XMLmind XML Editor, select the text displayed there, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl-V) and send it to us by pasting the content of the clipboard in the email message. For example, when I do that, I get: --- XMLMind XML Editor Configurations C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\configuration\configuration.xxe C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\docbook\docbook.xxe C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\schema\schema.xxe C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\sdocbook\sdocbook.xxe C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\slides\slides.xxe C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\xhtml\xhtml.xxe XML Catalogs C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\catalog.xml Spell-Checker Dictionaries C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\spell\de.dar C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\spell\en.dar C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\spell\es.dar C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\spell\fr.dar Java(TM) Runtime Environment Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.5.0 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0-b64 Windows XP 5.1 x86 --- [6] Please send us your "C:\Program Files\XMLmind_XML_Editor\config\catalog.xml" [7] Please open a DOS window and type set. Select what is displayed there, copy it to the clipboard and send it to us by pasting the content of the clipboard in the email message. For example, when I do that, I get: --- Microsoft Windows XP [version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Save this file, quit the text editor and restart XMLmind XML Editor as usual. This should open a console (like a DOS window) each time XMLmind XML Editor is started. May be you'll see error messages it in. If this is the case, please capture them and send them to us. stefan.van.gorkom at philips.com wrote: > > A few days ago I installed the XML editor (v2.8p1).
