We have already imagined a *generic* format plug-in parametrized by 2 XSLT style sheets: one to convert from source XML to ``editable XML'' and the other to convert back from editable XML to ``source XML'', but we have never taken the time to implement it. The answer to your question is no, there is no easy way to apply an xsl transform as part of a format plugin. This is feasible of course, but this requires a couple of hours of work.
