Yes, you can do very clean things, easily maintainable and on a 
per-project basis, but this is the free support and it would take me 
half of day of work to help you achieve exactly what you want.

Most people are not disturbed by doing quick and dirty things: if they 
don't like the  stock DocBook XSL stylesheets bundled with XXE then they 
simply use a text editor and directly modify them.

All the DocBook XSL stylesheets are found in 
<XXE_install_dir>/config/docbook/xsl/. Everything said on the SageHill 
book applies to the XSL files bundled with XXE.
