It may be that XXE users that are used to DocBook and XXE find selecting easy, but when you are evaluating XXE or trying to teach DocBook to a beginner thats when the problems begin.
Both my XXE/DocBook-newbies and the people who've evaluated DocBook/XXE have found this to be a very negative aspect. The fact that there are a lot of elements to choose from means lots of hours for me to teach which elements to choose and which to not choose. A suppressing DTD elements function would be a great feature. Come on fellow DocBook'ers, I know you want this too! Lets hear your 2 cents! :D Cheers! /Kenneth -------------------------------------------------------- Kenneth Johansson Technical Documentation Manager Sectra Imtec AB Teknikringen 20 E-mail: ke-joh AT sectra DOT se SE-583 30 Link?ping Phone: +46 13 23 52 00 SWEDEN Web: http://www.sectra.se > -----Original Message----- > From: xmleditor-support-admin at pixware.fr > [mailto:xmleditor-support-admin at pixware.fr] On Behalf Of > Hussein Shafie > Sent: den 29 januari 2004 18:48 > To: gray at conversagent.com > Cc: xmleditor-support at xmlmind.com > Subject: Re: [XXE] Suppressing DTD elements in XXE UI > > gray at conversagent.com wrote: > > > > This confirms my conclusion that element suppression is not > currently > > possible, > > True. > > > but leaves me wondering whether it's a legitimate feature request. > > All feature requests are legitimate. > > > If not, is it because it's impossible or too difficult to implement, > > No. > > > because it's something you're philosophically opposed to, or > > No. > > > because not enough people want this functionality? > > Yes. > > When I author a DocBook document, the fact that I have to > choose between several hundred elements doesn't bother me because: > > * I use the buttons in the DocBook tool bar. > * OR I use the auto-completion feature of the Edit tool (type > first letters then press the space bar). > > In all cases, I never have to browse several hundred > elements.
