Technically, you are right. If you intend to do that for your own personnal use, your are welcome to do it and we can even help you by giving away a Professional Edition (so you can get the full source code of the product). The problem is that you'll not be able to share your development efforts with others as XMLmind XML Editor is proprietary software.
