DocBook 4.2 is a bit easier to customize for certain purposes. The parameter entities that are used for local costumization has been cleaned up a bit. For me this meant that adding an XInclude element at appropriate places were much easier.
BTW, don't assume that higher version number implies bigger or more complex DTD. The complete list of changes since 4.1.2 is here http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/docbook/specs/cs-docbook-docbook-4.2.ht ml In many ways just a bug-fix release. The most interesting addition, IMHO, is better support for metadata, http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/docbook-tc/200202/msg00005.html And if you are interested in RELAX NG and W3C XML Schema, experimental versions are now available for DocBook 4.2: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/docbook/relaxng/1.0a1/index.shtml http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/docbook/xmlschema/1.0b1/index.shtml -- \|/ <@ @> Peter Ring +-oOO-(_)-OOo--------------------------- | Address Pal?gade 4 | P.O.Box 9026 | DK-1022 K?benhavn K | Phone +45 3396 0153 | Fax +45 3396 0101 | EMail pri at magnus.dk | WWW www.magnus.dk -----Original Message----- From: Hussein Shafie [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 5. februar 2003 13:24 To: Malo Pichot Cc: xmleditor-support at xmlmind.com Subject: Re: [XXE] [XXE v.2.1] configuration <snip /> PS: I'm very curious to know why you are so interested by DocBook 4.2 (i.e. what is missing in 4.1.2, which is already a ``monster'' ?)
