This was a very bad idea. But being able to choose IDREF/IDREFS from the list of already defined IDs seems to be useful and generic enough to be worth implementing for V2.1 (before end of the year). Navigation between elements using ID/IDREF attribute (i.e. select and scroll to element referencing my ID and vice versa) is planned too. (This already works for XHTML for the <a> element).
