Thank you very much for this investigation. From what you say it is obvious it is not XML Mind issue, but issue of either X11, OO or most probably Java.
A good news is that the issue does not occur on Windows, where most of my potential non-technical users are based. Anyway for Linux users there is an easy workaround which is a bit annoying but does not make the table pasting less productive. You just need first paste the spreadsheet table to an plain text editor and than copy it again and paste as table into XML Mind. I just tested and it works fine. Thank you.
