I'm not sure to understand the problem. [1] Select a transcluded element and press "F2 z". The transcluded element is replaced by the conref source. The resulting conref source element can now be edited, which is useful when you want to specify attributes such as id. [2] Once you are done with this editable conref source, select it and press "F2 z" again. The conref source is transcluded again and the resulting transcluded element is ``shaded'' (to indicate that it can no longer be edited). You say that step [1] works fine for you. Step [2] works fine for us. That is, we cannot reproduce any problem when "F2 z" is pressed a second time.
