Generally speaking, I found the 64bit JVMs to be rather unstable with softwares with a GUI (Eclipse and XXE for me). It's really hard to find a clear cause. Maybe it's Swing-related. I used to have the JVM crashing or freezing with XXE, but not since a few months.
