The annoying behavior you cite (which has to do with form controls 
embedded in the document view -- see 
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/wish_list.html) is absolutely not 
related to this other, ``new'', one: performing search/replace or 
spell-checking in a modular document where some included modules are 
read-only.

(I'm saying that because the workaround you use is "CTRL + SHIFT + E to 
edit the referenced file".)

What you need is to be able to edit modular documents in place. We agree 
that this would be much more convenient than to "CTRL + SHIFT + E to 
edit the referenced file".

May be we'll implement editing modular documents in place. May be not. 
We have not decided yet. However if this happens, it will happen in XXE 
v4 (a major overhaul of XXE) which will not be released before several 
months.
