We had to import a single Word doc into DocBook, and we used one of the many converters that's available (try googling "convert OR conversion word microsoft docbook", or look at http://wiki.docbook.org/topic/ConvertOtherFormatsToDocBook). I was thinking we used upCast: http://www.infinity-loop.de/products/upcast/features.html --but now that I look at their description, I'm not sure.
