Dear Mr. Shafie, thanks a lot for Your efforts. In the meantime I succeeded in solving my problem. Perhaps cause and remedy are interesting for You too, in case of future error or problem reports:
I had chosen "Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode" in the properties dialog of the xmlmind xxe.exe (because before I had run the program under windows XP). After unchecking the above mentioned checkbox, xmlmind works without problems, and the "File -> Open"-Dialog works correctly, and also the "File -> Save As ..."-Dialog. Friendly greetings W.
