The interest of xeditor2 is that it can easily be integrated in a Web-based XML editing workflow for XML documents that are selected by other means (i.e. not File>Open). It's very easy to integrate it using Web development tools (e.g. Firefox web developer addon). We understand perfectly however that it would not reasonable to entirely rewrite xeditor2 to come back on the initial design choice. We'll keep one view only, it's not lethal. Many thanks again for your help, Best regards.
