We don't think that this need is a common one and in order to keep
XXE as lean and mean as possible, we try to very carefully select the
features, whether major or minor, we add to our XML editor. Therefore,
we are sorry but we have to reject your request for enhancement.
There is another way to look at this suggestion; and actually, it is
perfectly in line with the objective you mention above... (and that was
also the primary motivation for this proposal !).
If you consider DocBook, *ANY* document can be viewed as a potential
document set, this is just a different way to use the document, not for
direct editing but for checking links, opening modular parts, and...
generating outputs.
We agree that just adding the XML menu might be an unnecessary
supplementary feature, but looking at the document set just as a
different document view, might open the door to more
consistency/simplicity and elegance for future releases.
However, we understand your answer and it is not a problem for us; we
are quite happy with the "document set" as it is now...
