Yes. The workaround seems to work OK on various versions of Windows and Java.
However there are still one problem with the math palette when XXE runs as an applet: the palette is not automatically hidden when you click outside it. That's why we are now seriously considering the idea of completely rewriting this part of the MathML pane.
