I've been using XXE for some years. I've just installed the
Evaluation Edition of 5.5.0 on a different laptop (nojvm installer
using the jvm (build 1.6.0_07-b06) over Windows 7, 64 bit).
It all seems to be working fine except, when typing, the BACKSPACE
key doesn't delete text left, and the DELETE key doesn't delete text
right. Pretty basic stuff.
If I select some text (pink selection), DELETE & BACKSPACE will
delete it. The problem only arises if the cursor is just a vertical
line with nothing selected.
I notice in the release notes that "Pressing DELETE or BACKSPACE may
now be used to delete an empty text node..." Perhaps in fixing these
more esoteric uses of these keys their basic functions of deleting
text backwards and forwards have been broken? But surely someone else
would have noticed this.
I've searched for a solution before posting, but to no avail.
