*not* intended to be packaged, incuded in distributions, whatsoever.

I've been trying to point out that there is nothing magical about a development release. Development releases often get packaged as rpm's and deb's, and need to play nice just as stable releases. The entity using the library needs to know if binary compatibility was broken, even within the sequence of releases in a development branch.
