I'd prefer that we don't end up in a situation where the final 1.7 contains some fixes not in the final 1.8, so my only input is that there should also be a "final" 1.8.3 which contains the cherry picks as well.

Julien & I cherry picked several fixes last week to server-1.7- nominations, and Jeremy fixed our mistake this morning by pushing them to server-1.7-branch
and closing the server-1.7-nominations branch.

Since I'm trapped on 1.7.x by Intel at the moment (there being no version of xf86-video-intel that supports both 1.8.x or later and a kernel without KMS, and the KMS support for our kernel not being ready yet), I'll be shipping 1.7.x in our fall release, and could thus use a 1.7.8 release if one was made.

Would a 1.7.8 be useful to anyone else besides our two distros? Are there any fixes suitable for 1.7.8 that are not yet cherry-picked to server-1.7-branch
that would be wanted by anyone else?

(I'm not proposing multiple release candidates or a multi-week test cycle, just simply running make distcheck & posting 1.7.8 tarballs in the next
week or two.)
