Yeah, there are lots of places where the original API design from 1987
doesn't make much sense in 2015. Who would have thought?

Someone needs to deal with this, but once you've escaped DIX, you have
complete control in your driver.

Feel free to do whatever you like in Xwayland; there are often
driver-specific hacks like this needed as you know.
