Do we want to make a new main branch and make all future release branches
from it, abandoning the current master branch? (I hope we can get 26.1
branches of both Xwayland and the other Xservers made this year, after our
25.1 plans for both got scuttled last year by this mess.)
What would be your timeline for that?
I was planning to start preparing xwayland-26.1 soon enough, as (as
you said), I gave up on making xwayland-25.1 last year unfortunately,
so it's a long overdue.
I hadn't gotten to planning a timeline yet, but hoped we could coordinate
on a common branch point for both branches for simplicity in backports,
like was tried last year with
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1799
Do you plan to coordinate the release of a server-26.1-branch yourself?
I'd love to have someone else do it, or at least help, but if no one else
steps forward, I've resigned myself to likely having to do it myself.
BTW, when you do make the Xwayland branch, you probably want to add
changing SECURITY.md to reflect Xwayland instead of Xorg to the usual
"drop non-Xwayland servers" commits. At the moment it doesn't even
mention Xwayland since I didn't know what to say beyond what's said
for the non-Xorg servers in general.
