O.k., I now tried to use one of the half-way working "MacModel" options plus a
hard-coded monitor modeline as in the good old days, and now I at least *have* an output
in 1280x1024 with the accelerated driver!  However, there are still several issues:

Can you attach your xorg log with that option specified?

Attached to this message, for both accel methods.

I noticed that in both modes the log says that

(EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed to open the DRM

but my kernel config is

r...@antares:/usr/src/linux-2.6.33.2# grep -e DRM -e RADEON .config
CONFIG_DRM=y
CONFIG_DRM_KMS_HELPER=y
CONFIG_DRM_TTM=y
# CONFIG_DRM_TDFX is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_R128 is not set
CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=y
CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS=y
# CONFIG_DRM_MGA is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_SIS is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_VIA is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_SAVAGE is not set
CONFIG_FB_RADEON=y
CONFIG_FB_RADEON_I2C=y
CONFIG_FB_RADEON_BACKLIGHT=y
# CONFIG_FB_RADEON_DEBUG is not set

So that's also strange, isn't it?

Thanks,
Albrecht.
