-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Sorry again for polluting this list with OT stuff, but it might be of some help.
In a last attempt I tried to update the BIOS and it works now :D Every config seems to work (I didn't test all of them but two modules on DIMM 3 & 4 does boot and is OK). So if you own a Gigabyte EG45M-DS2H and have memory issues first check your BIOS revision (I upgraded from F2 to F4). - -- regards, strawks strawks wrote: > Hi all, > > Sorry for posting it here since it is totally OT but since some of you > have the same motherboard as mine maybe someone might be able to help me. > > I have a Gigabyte EG45M-DS2H motherboard, E8400 Core 2 CPU and 2x1GB > Kingston memory (KHX8500D2K2/2GN), BIOS settings are set to "load > failsafe defaults". > > I ran memtest86 2.11 and It reports strange errors : > - only one module on DIMM 1, 2 or 3 -> no problem > - only one DIMM on DIMM 4 -> "unexpected error - halting" > - two modules on DIMM 1 & 2 (so single channel) -> no problem > - two modules on DIMM 1 & 3 (dual channel) -> thousands of errors > - two modules on DIMM 1 & 4 (dual) -> thousands of errors and > "unexpected interrupt" or just freeze > - two modules on DIMM 3 & 4 -> doesn't even boot (no POST) > > Has anybody with this board experienced issues like this? > I suppose it's just faulty hardware but I don't know if this problem is > caused by bad RAM or faulty memory controller or anything else (I don't > have other hardware to do more tests).
