Yes, this should be fine. All that would have to be done, in that case, is to continue to use 'prefix=/usr/local/xorp'. What I want to do is to make an installation into prefix=/usr/local clean for filesystem specs BSD/FHS/LSB, so people can actually ship it as a package.
