I agree. What is needed a layer dialog box/interface. It would also be
nice to reorder layers and to merge two consecutive ones.
I wish I was better at GTK programming.

By the way, I have now completed porting to glade version 3 (one of
the features my students implemented). I am not suggesting this should
be for this version, but it could help with future features.
