Need to definitely compile it... what was the repository/branch again?
Will try as soon as I have a bit of time.

...can't find ignore_other_devices. Setting discard_corepointer did not
change anything, as you suspected.

The dot is where the pointer was before losing the focus. Or before
flipping the pen. It seems that the dot is drawn (just sometime) before
the pointer "snaps" to the new position. Sometime I have even straight
lines drawn to the borders of the canvas.

Yes, it's a wacom CTH-480 touch+pen, quite new. And your comment about
the "ignore_other_devices" made me try to disable (hardware, the tablet
has a little switch) the touch part of the tablet --- although sometime
it is useful for scrolling. That seems to have fixed, or at least
greatly reduced, the spurious dot problem (I could write two pages
without any dot).

I am using input-wacom-0.20.0 input driver; will check if the recently
released 0.21.0 change something --- it mentions the CTH-480 touch
switch, so maybe...

Thanks anyway --- found at least a workaround.
