Hi Denis, everybody, Summary:
0. thank you 1. PDF export 2. My repo and its branches 3. Binaries for windows 4. Microsoft surface 5. Windows 10 0. thank you very much for fixing the pdf bug. 1. The PDF export is working very well. Now text export into PDF is properly read by MacOs. Background export works well. 2. Sorry I have been quiet, I was teaching this term. One interesting thing is that I redid the notes I give the students with xournal (https://github.com/dmgerman/csc370). Most of the time I use xournal for PDF annotations, so I don't use it a lot for notes. I think the use cases for each are different. I feel that some of the features I had created in the past are more oriented towards PDFs than notes. Anyways, i also took some time to clean up my repo. I have some branches that I have developed over time, some which are almost done, and some that might not be of general interest. >From https://github.com/dmgerman/xournal/blob/master/README.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ** Summary of experimental branches These branches are reliable and do not break compatibility with Xournal: | Name | Purpose | Rebased to head | Integrated into next | |------------------------+-------------------------------------------------------------------+------------------+-----------------------| | snap-to-grid | Defines a grid to which any annotation is snapped to. | <2015-08-14 Fri> | Yes | | mru | Update the Most-Recently-Used list with the currently opened page | <2015-08-14 Fri> | Yes | | layers | Option to see layers above the current one | <2015-08-14 Fri> | Yes | | horizontal-scroll-lock | Option to Lock the scroll horizontally | <2015-08-14 Fri> | Yes | | cmake | Replaces autogen/automake with cmake | <2015-08-14 Fri> | Yes | Some experimental branches, they are incomplete or break compatibility: | Name | Purpose | Todo | |-------------+---------------------------------------------------------+--------------------| | glade | Uses glade XML interface configuration files | Slightly outdated | | gtk3 | Attempts to replace gtk2 with gtk3 | Performance issues | | paperstyles | Implements dotted paper style, breaks XOJ compatibility | Fully implemented | Other branches: | Name | Purpose | |----------+-----------------------------| | next | My experimental branch | | upstream | Code upstream in Denis repo | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. I have also compiled binaries for windows: xournal.exe is the upstream version xournal-dmg.exe is my "next" version. The About message clarifies that this is not the official version. you can download them from: http://turingmachine.org/~dmg/xournal/xournal-0.4.8-windows.zip 4. I have been using xournal in a surface. the tablet is much worse for handwriting than the Thinkpad Tablet 2. It is a bit of a shame, because it is very good hardware. But in my opinion, the wacom stylus is much superior for handwriting. I prefer to use the Thinkpad much more (and it is lighter). 5. Windows 10. Xournal (as compiled above) works. -- Daniel M.
