   Make sure you're not using a kernel framebuffer device.  It
may be interfering with the server.  I know it would interfere
with NVIDIA's drivers.  Didn't think it would with the "nv" driver,
but if you've got something wrong VT switching with the "nv"
driver it's got to be some system-level problem because VT switching
with the "nv" driver is very straightforward.
