Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

I have installed X 4.1 on my system and find that it crashes sooner or
later. Most often it completely freezes the computer. I have to turn the
power off and on to get the computer going again. I have varied the
color depth and screen sizes without success. I tried the non AGP driver
  - it crashed more often. There was the same problem when X3.X was
installed.

It is a Pentium II system with AGP. The system uses kernel 2.4.9. AGP
support is compiled into the kernel.(It was not in the kernel for the
X3.X version) Direct Rendering in X is not installed. "XFree86
-configure" does not work with some kind of "Signal 11 error", removing
the "blade or similar" file only results in a blank screen. I used
"xf86cfg -textmode" to configure X. I notice that it does not give me a
chance to set the memory on the card.

Seems to happen most often when I run through graphic files one after
another. It also happens after about five minutes of moving between
pages on the Internet.

Any suggesstions on what I could try?

R. Nathan
