I have been experiencing difficulties in installing XFree86, on launching
the server ==>
Failure to open /dev/io for extended I/O
I posted a note on the Newbie mail group over a week ago and finally got a
response yesterday ==>
More than likely you've got a security level problem. You set your
box to a securelevel above 0 (in
rc.conf), which means that X can no longer read /dev/io.
I made the suggested changes w/ no improvements, changing the security
level to "0" in the /etc/rc.conf file, but to no
avail - Specific line ==>
kern_securelevel="0"
kern_securelevel_enable="YES"
I did a "Find" for "secure" in the rc.* files under the /etc directory but
did not find anything approximating any other
security issues
The log file ==> "/var/log/XFree86.0.log" is attached below
