This is a volunteer effort remember.

Pseudocolor 8bpp looks horrible, so those of us who can avoid it.

Most apps that need it are sufficiently brain-dead that they need
it as the default visual, so if it were widely implemented everything
would look horrible.

Having said that, Mark V and I have some ideas about how it could be
implemented - talk to us if you are interested in doing it for 4.3.0.
