No search I can think of has found me anything relevant, so maybe
one of you knows about this:
I have A Sun Sparc Ultra 10, Creator3D card, SuSE Linux 7.1,
XF86 4.0.2 as provided by SuSE. Monitor is Sony GDM-20E20 (Sun calls
it 365-1335). The driver for this card is 'sunffb.' I wish dpms
support for this combination.
This system also has in it a Mach64 video card, and using Solaris 8
for comparison, I can get DPMS support as follows:
Mach64 Creator3D
| ------ | ---------
Solaris | yes | yes
Linux | yes | NO
The XF86Config file for the Creator video card has the "ServerFlags"
set with the "StandbyTime", etc options set the way I want, and the
"Monitor" section has ' Option "DPMS" "on"' as I want.
The Server log file tells the story thus:
...
(II) Loading extension DPMS
...
(II) LoadModule: "sunffb"
(II) Module sunffb: vendor="The ..."
compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: Xfree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.3
...
(II) /dev/fb0: Detected FFB2+/vertical, Z-buffer, Double-buffered.
(II) /dev/fb0: BT498 (PAC2) ramdac detected
(II) /dev/fb0: Detected Creator/Creator3D
(II) /dev/fb0: DRM setup failed > ??? <
(==) SUNFFB(0): Backing store disabled
(==) SUNFFB(0): Silken mouse enabled
(II) /dev/fb0: Using acceleration
(II) /dev/fb0: DGA support initialized.
(WW) SUNFFB(0): Option "DPMS" is not used <<<<<<
Does anyone see what I am missing or otherwise know the status
of DPMS support for the Sparc Linux/Creator3D(sunffb)/GDB-20E20
combination? (Nothing I have seen suggests upgrading XF86 version
would make a difference, so I haven't.)
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ferris
