Hi all.

First much thanks for releasing 4.2.0 !!

I took some time to play with the libHAL again.

You do not need the libHAL for normal CRT output (also not for the 2nd
Head or using Xinerama) at least with my mga450.

Using libHAL not:

- much faster X startup (reduced from 5-8 seconds down to 1-2 seconds
...).

- the video-timings are slightly different. Although I'm using a
selfmade 1152x900 modeline. My 21" Sony show a ~30% smaller image when
I do not use libHAL (which can be easyly adjust on the monitor ;-).

And I found a bug (This is still using 4.1.99.5):

- I first only added the "Option "NoHal"" to my first Device
section. Which worked for my normal single-head layout. But when I
tried to start the dual-head layout, XFree died with "fatal signal
11". After adding the "Option "NoHal"" to my second screen's Device
Section, too - XFree work find in dual mode, too. incl. Xinerama and
XVideo windows dragged arround.

Does anyone know what this "Megerd" dual-head mode is the libHAL
additionally offers?

You may need the libHAL for getting a TV-video-out, digital-LCD out
and the addtional "merged"-xinerama mode.
