Running suse 7.2, kernel 2.4.16, kde 2.1.2, matrox g200 video card and sony
cpd-200es monitor. I upgraded to Xserver 4.1 and I used sax2 for
configuration. The monitor horizontal and vertical freq ranges were detected
correctly by sax2. System will boot properly to kde desktop. The problem is
when I enter cntrl+alt+backspace, this does not kill the Xserver and monitor
will turn black for few seconds and switches back to kde desktop. when I
enter cntrl+alt+F1, monitor turns black with a message "out of scan range"
and I do not see the text console and I have to enter cntrl+alt+del to
reboot. when I click shutdown from the desktop, the monitor turns black with
same message "out of scan range", text console does not get restored, but the
system will shutdown properly. This problem did not happen with the Xserver
version 4.0.3 that was included in suse 7.2 distribution. Does anyone know
how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. P.S If
solution needs some compiling work, please provide detail instructions ( I am
new to Linux).
