Actually, the monitors ideally want 1280x1024@60Hz and that's why I have the HorizSync and VertRefresh set the way I do (the monitor spec said that the monitors use those frequencies).
However, I will try putting the valid ranges back for HS & VS and see what that does. I know that it's something simple I'm missing... Later I tried the setup without the CrtScreen options, and there was no change, so I agree with you that they are not necessary. Do you have a XF86Config-4 file that works (with dualhead Radeon)?
