Thanks for this suggestion, I was thinking of that too, and looked at www.hp.com for the monitor. I found a manual and it said 30-121 H and 48 - 160 V I inserted it there, but the result was NIL. I did another try today with XFdrak, the configuration utility of Mandrake 8.0. It was able to push this monitor to 85 Hz, when I selected a HP Monitor from the list that was close to my specs. Thats better, but still not what I would like to get. Here I modified the HorizSync and VertRefresh lines again, but now the monitor is stuck at 85 Hz. I somehow have the impression, that the file I am editing the whole time is simply ignored. Does anybody know which file is used for the refresh rate setting at a Mandrake 8.0 system?
