I just updated my workstation from RedHat Linux 6.2 to Redhat 7.2. my dual-head G400 doesn't display output to the second head anymore; even tho X thinks the display is there. i.e. the second monitor is black.
The X logs seem to indicate that it thinks the display is there; it's running Xinerama, both MGA modules (one for each head) load, I can scroll the cursor to that area and it will disappear for a suitably long period of time before desktops switch in that direction, windows will start and be in that area (of course, I can't see them). the old system was running X 4.1.0 and linux kernel 2.2.20; the new one ran X 4.1.0 until I upgraded it to 4.2.0 (from Redhat's Rawhide source RPMs); and I've tried kernels 2.4.7 and 2.4.9 (from redhat) and 2.4.19-pre2-ac2 (built from source myself.) I have tried swapping monitors, to make sure the monitor isn't dead. I have booted from the old hard drive (RH 6.2), and tried X; and found that X works just fine, displaying to both monitors. anyone have any similar experiences? any suggestions what to try next?
