All my DGA test apps work fine. I don't know about vmware, but
at least the TV apps misuse DGA. With DGA you're only supposed to
access the framebuffer while in DGA mode. Scribbling into the
framebuffer behind the server's back while the server has control
of it isn't supported. If you want to use your TV card you should
be using the V4L module in XFree86. It can coordinate access to
the framebuffer properly, and will also be able to use the video
overlay.
