That is difficult, but I will try.... It appears that xterm windows extends all the way horizontally, to the edge of the screen, with greyish horizontal lines, the same size, or slightly smaller, than the title bar in the window. I have tried to take a screen-capture with xv, that I can forward, if someone is interested. On an xterm with white background, these lines turns the background into grey.
