I had that option set to BIOS, but was using the ati driver instead of
the r128 driver.  I plugged into a monitor, low and behold I could run
X on it!

My only complaint at this point is that it didn't support using the
Fn+F7 to toggle while in X.  Also, I could get it to display X on
both the monitor and the LCD.
