Though the driver itself isn't part of XFree86, ATI offers quadbuffered stereo drivers (that work with XFree86) for their FireGL 2/3/4 cards, for x86 Linux systems running glibc 2.2. See http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/firegl/linux/linuxfiregl4x410197.html The release notes mention some minor caveats about enabling stereo, e.g. that you can't switch screen resolutions on the fly. But it sounds pretty nice. The license looks similar to NVidia's for their binary-only drivers. Has anyone here tried the ATI stereo drivers? We're thinking to get some of their cards just to be able to use stereo under Linux.
