wow, thanks for the rapid response! i never had a doubt that debian
would do this out of the box, but i am already rather at a loss
pertaining to how to make the two machines (that are sitting next to
each other) talk to each other via XDMCP (or whatever is used). i am
a *total newbie* in this field...
