I set up a VLSI layout tool with XFree86 4.2.0 on a FreeBSD 4.5 box. However, the stipple renderer is having problems.
The symptom is that polygons filled with a stipple pattern sometimes show up as filled with solid black. Note I said "sometimes". It's a Heisenbug and is particularly difficult to reproduce. I wrote a simple X app to try to nail down the bug, but it doesn't tickle it. It appears to need a wide variety of shapes and sizes of stipple filled polygons to hit the code. I would suspect a pixmap cacheing bug of some flavor. I *do* know that it is an X error because I set the NoAccel option and all the stipples worked perfectly (if slowly). I can send any configuration or logfile output as required.
