Different laptops come with different resolution panels. This
is a limitation of the panel. I believe the panel is a significant
cost of the laptop and offering different panel resolutions allows
the vendor to offer many differently-priced models. All the laptops
that I've seen (payed attention to) have slightly different model
numbers between models with different panel sizes, though it's
sometimes a subtle naming difference.
