There seems to be a problem with Xv and Permedia3 chips. For small images
everything works fine. Large source XvImages cause the displayed picture to
flicker when playing video. Setting the pixel clock < ~80 MHz fixes the problem,
as does setting the XV_FILTER attribute to 0 or 2. Is this related to the
comment in pm3_video.c:
/* NOTE: If we don't return reasonable values here then the video
     * unit can potential shut off and won't display an image until re-enabled.
     * Seems as though the zoom_delta is o.k, and I've not had the problem.
     * The 'shrink_delta' is prone to this the most - FIXME ! */

It os only the width of the source image that matters. The destination size
and height don't make any difference.

Sometimes (for some widths?) the picture flickers even when it's not changing.

BTW, will there ever be 3D support for permedia3/R3 without a gamma chip?
