I'm running RH7.2 w/ XFree86 4.1 on a Dell Precision 610 (Diamond 8MB Permedia2 AGP card, Dell D1626HT monitor). X freezes up (won't respond) after the screen saver kicks in. The screen simply holds a constant image and there's no response from the keyboard or mouse. I can log into the system remotely using ssh and safely shut the system down, but am unable to restart X. I'm new to linux, so I'm not sure whether or not killing X should remedy the problem. It doesn't seem to do anything as far as the display and keyboard/mouse reponse are concerned. Disabling the screensaver seems to be one way of avoiding all of this, but I'd rather find out what the problem is. Any help is greatly appreciated.
